Unbreak your hearts, good people. It appears that a full-fledged Toni Braxton biopic is one the way. Lifetime, a network that has made tradition out of absolutely terrible and mostly unauthorized biopic treatments (see the laughable Aaliyah treatment for verification) is at the helm. working hand-in-hand with the 90s r&b goddess on a telling of her embattled tale, fittingly titled Un-Break My Heart after Braxton’s smash ’96 ballad and her recent memoir. The film will be largely based on the memoir and will apparently star Braxton herself in some capacity, though an actual cast for the film has yet to be revealed. Production and filming is slated to begin later this year, but according to Variety, it will cover Braxton’s battles with chronic illness, divorce and caring for her autistic son along the way. No release date has been set, but we’re expecting the Toni Braxton biopic to come together in typical Lifetime haste, so keep your eyes on us for updates, and pray along with us that the network doesn’t butcher this thing like it did Baby Girl’s story just a year ago.
